It’s time to celebrate $20 million raised for 140 organizations since 1993 - SEATTLE (Jan. 17, 2017) Detlef and Mari Schrempf announced today that this year will be their final year of event fundraising as the Detlef Schrempf Foundation. What began in 1993 as a small celebrity golf tournament, leading to the formation of the Detlef Schrempf Foundation in 1996, the Schrempfs have served charities in the Pacific Northwest, as well as internationally, for nearly 25 years.
“We’ve had an amazing journey, and we surprised many by lasting this long after my NBA days,” said Detlef Schrempf. “But that just illustrates how supportive and giving this community is, and has become. We have built relationships and friendships that will last a lifetime. It’s time to pass the torch to a younger generation of athletes and celebrities that can open doors and garner support with their own name and vision. There are plenty of rising stars in this region that have already shown promise. It is now time for Mari and I to focus on the next chapter of our philanthropic journey.”
Beginning with Boyer Children’s Clinic, the Detlef Schrempf Foundation has impacted over 140 regional charities, and is expected to raise $20-million by the end of this fundraising year.
“It’s been an honor and joy to support and get to know so many charities, children and families,” said Mari Schrempf. “Many of the kids we first encountered are now adults, leading productive lives and giving back to this community we love so much.”
The Detlef Schrempf Foundation’s final events, the Ripple of Giving Gala and Celebrity Golf Classic will take place June 24 and 25, 2017 at Meydenbauer Center and Newcastle Golf Course. It will be a spectacular and deserving send off for two individuals that have devoted much of their lives to building up this community.
